Moral terrorism

Sometimes we think we are so unique in the world. But just a little
reading makes us realize that there are so many parallels with other
people, despite what looks like inherent differences.

 This coming week, the leader of the majority Republicans in the United
States, Senator Bill Frist, is participating in a telecast geared
towards labeling the opposition Democrats as acting "against people of
faith." This is because the Democrats are opposing the nomination of judges
with extremely conservative views. But, as columnist Frank Rich of the
New York Times says, Senator Frist and his allies do not mean people of
all faiths, only those of their faith.

A lot of us are patting ourselves on the back because the nuclear option didn't go down.  Bush already had an impressive 95% confirmation rate, and now we're letting some of his wackos get confirmed.  So our "big victory" is that we managed to hold a couple super-wackos back.

I feel like Al Bundy bargaining a used car salesman down to $5900 from $6000 when the car is only worth $4000.  I can almost see him driving away with that pathetic, "I've got to feel good about this or kill myself" grin of his.

This silver lining is that the Republicans spent a lot of political capital on this, and they don't have much left.  The lower the poll numbers for Bush and his psycho cohorts, the more moderate Republicans will be willing to distance himself from his insane policies.

To make yourself feel better, in 4 years we'll have a president a kazillion times better than this retarded monkey on crack, even if it's McCain or Guiliani.  I plan to pop a bottle of champaigne even if they win, at least sanity will be restored!

You've probably heard about the Eisenhower quote on social security.  It's actually something he wrote in a letter, rather than said.  We now have confirmation from snopes.com which you can pass on to your doubting Republican friends (assuming you still have some).

If Wesley Clark runs again, I think his campaign slogan should be "He's Like Ike!"

Watergate is always used as the prism through which the topic of journalistic privilege is always discussed:  without the protected privilege endowed to the journalists who uncovered Watergate, Nixon would have gotten away with his crimes and would have been able to persecute journalists who leaked sensitive information.  That all sounds reasonable to me. The journalists didn't put anyone at physical risk with their leak...it was just a break-in and subsequent monitoring of Democrats, right?
My question is:  why can't we liberals condone a line drawn, so that journalists can't aid and abet serious crimes that cause physical harm in constrast to the above political crimes, crimes such as the outing of Valerie Plame which likely caused deaths to operatives (not that we'll ever know, with Bush in charge of the CIA).  Isn't Novac and his treason for outing a CIA operative grounds for imprisonment for obstructing justice and furthermore, for treason, since he intentionally committed treason by exposing a CIA agent?

Why can't there be a line where, if their journalism is treasonous or protects murderers and rapists, or otherwise abets in a physical crime, they do indeed have to go to jail until they fess up?  That may get them off of the obstruction charge, but not the treason charge, in my opinion.  What if they were protecting a terrorist prior to an attack?  Would you want that journalist to talk then?

Freedom of speech stops at the point when you slander or defame someone, so why not when you betray your country?  I believe in journalistic privilege but with limits:  if you are protecting someone as insidious and evil as the Bushes, the Cheneys, and their middle-eastern agents, Al Queda (always, ALWAYS remember that Cheney was IN with the mujahadeen during the Cold War...he started up Bin Laden, and the relationship never ended), then you should go to jail for more than obstructing justice.  You should go to jail for aiding and abetting a felony.

So, Novac-like agents of treason, evil extensions of this fascist administration:  yes, they should be put in jail for treason until they produce the traitors who actually released the information...and Gannon, our favorite White House male prostitute, laughable aspiring fascist...I am waiting with bated breath for the proof that he was the agent of Rove who passed along this information through GOPUSA.com, and subsequently to Novac...remember how much info the guy had been feeding to news organizations until this story came out.

I just tried to access Green Day's video "American Idiot" from their homepage.  It kept redirecting me to http://www.warnerreprise.com

When I finally got it working, the language had been censored, and they removed the part where the singer pretends to sodomize himself to the lines "everybody do the propaganda."

Was Green Day censored for anti-American sentiment?  I don't believe they are anti-American, they're probably just fed up with our traitor-in-chief like the rest of us.

Punk bands have long been willing to say the politically unpopular, stick their necks out, disseminate otherwise ignored facts about our government, and provide a framework for youthful dissent.

I know this may sound petty, but I feel it's important.  Small signs may indicate bigger happenings.  I also feel we can't get so focused on DC that we ignore tell-tale signs around us.

One of our goals is to improve the image of the word "LIBERAL" and that's what this sticker aims to do.  WE defeated Hitler, Mussolini, and Hirohito, not them.

I've also designed a very nice looking one which reads "REAL CHRISTIANS VOTE DEMOCRAT!"  It has a fish and a crucifix.  It's not on e-bay so there's no link, but if you'd like that one I can send it also.

I've noticed this term in use lately.  I think it's a good idea and could catch on.  We need to push it into the mainstream to define Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and the rest of those traitors to both the USA and Christianity.

I'm thinking about putting out some political bumper stickers.  It may cost me a little money so I'm trying to find if anybody would be interested in getting one and using it.  Here
